High Seas Expedition—VBS
Oh man, what a great week! We had an amazing time with 76 children a great theme, wonderful crafts, stories, music, games, and those snacks! With the added pressure of a church facility that couldn’t be fully utilized the leadership team did an amazing job of improvising. The revising of the floor plan and movement of the children was difficult on the first day but once the “flow” was worked out everything seemed to hit its proverbial stride.
Parents were very understanding, leaders went the extra distance, and our L.I.T.’s did a great job of getting involved with the children. As a leader participant this year my greatest observation of the experience was the teamwork that was evident in the program. We had a significant number of new leaders this year who made huge contributions to the success of V.B.S. this year. Flexibility, understanding, and cooperation were all needed in the environment and by grace they were given.
Adjustments were necessary for our Thursday evening program, BBQ and presentations changed to an Open House due to the closure of the sanctuary. Guests were extremely positive and reactions to our video presentation of the children’s program; overwhelmingly encouraging.
A great deal of thanks is due to our Christian Education Director (Frances Sullivan); all those who attended the planning sessions giving their input and time to creating such a wonderful program for the children and youth of our neighbourhood. Truly this was an experience in working together for the blessing our children. If you felt as I did, you were exhausted in that wonderful way that comes from knowing your have done something so worthwhile you’ve given your all!
Serving Christ together,
Pastor Howard
